Calibration certificate review checklist

Identification

Unique certificate number, page x of y, date of calibration and date of issue.
Laboratory identity; accreditation symbol and number present when accredited calibration was ordered.
Customer identity and the item unambiguously identified (model, serial, asset number).
Calibration falls within the laboratory's published scope for this quantity and range.

Method or procedure identified; medium (bath, block, chamber) and immersion stated where relevant.
Environmental conditions stated where they affect the result.
Reference standards identified with evidence of traceability (certificate numbers, laboratory).
Measurement current stated for resistance thermometers.

Calibration points bracket the range of use and include decision temperatures (alarm limits, set points).
Measured values, indicated values and corrections given with units at each point.
Expanded uncertainty stated per point with its coverage factor k.
Reported uncertainty is not smaller than the laboratory's CMC.
As-found and as-left data both present where adjustment or repair occurred.
Any conformity statement names the decision rule applied.
Values reported with decimals consistent with the instrument's resolution and the uncertainty.

Uncertainty small enough for the application (typically ≤ ¼ to ⅓ of the tolerance).
As-found result assessed against tolerance; impact assessment raised if out of tolerance.
Drift since the previous certificate recorded; interval reviewed.
Corrections applied in use or the instrument adjusted and re-calibrated.
Authorised signatory identified; certificate filed against the equipment record.
